Another loved one dying in his hands, executing Buckingham. Richard isn't getting any breaks T_T

Anime & Rutabagas • 1 year ago

Shakespeare is so sadistic lol

Shinya • 1 year ago

This is so far from what Shakespeare wrote. Just because the anime claims it's inspired by Shakespeare doesn't mean it's any close to the plays.

RIP Buckingham and poor Richard

Kurushimi no jinsei • 1 year ago

love and normal life was never an option for Richard T_T
And I blame it on his mother.. that dark hearted woman..
Anne and Catesby just became victims in the process

NGL I feel really sad for Richard.. his life is so tragic 😭😭

Jack • 1 year ago

He finally died lol, but damn what a relationship true to what anime is in the sense of age diference lol.

Nan Demo K(Nai)ves • 1 year ago

Oh damn, so much sadness in this episode, Buckingham and Richard both looked so tortured. I liked how Buckingham tried to the very end, even with both armies at each other, to get Richard to flee with him to somewhere faraway where they could just be together but unfortunately for him Richard has too many responsibilities that he can't separate himself.

I also like how Richard got to understand a bit more how his father might have felt when he kept asking to go to war with him with Edward doing the same to him now, I liked how he explained the reality of it so that Edward doesn't go through what he did at such a young age.

I also liked seeing how Catesby reacted to Buckingham turning himself in, he knows very well how much this is and will affect Richard. That last comment on how he'll never be able to understand him fits the dynamic they have of being complete opposites. I did find Buckingham's comment on wanting to look good for Richard was amusing though lol.

Richard being the executioner didn't surprise me, Buckingham did get his wish of seeing Richard one last time. I honestly thought Richard would visit Buckingham so they'd sleep together one last time but I guess that would just make it more difficult to find the resolve to be King Richard instead.

Anime & Rutabagas • 1 year ago

So no head? lol

Such a tragic end to their relationship T^T

Kirito • 1 year ago

Just blood and we all thought Richard was pregnant

MeguminExplosion • 1 year ago

Buckingham does not give head.

Jack • 1 year ago

If they started their relation like this episode did I would have shipped them a long time ago, cause this episode made their relation not look AS toxic as it actually was. And probably if Henry just stayed dead LMAO, cause he literally did nothing but torment both Richard and Buckingham lol

Nan Demo K(Nai)ves • 1 year ago

It did remind me of how they even started their sexual relationship, Buckingham basically threatened him to sleep with Richard as proof of their pact when he had been crushing on him for who knows how long but I guess in the list of messed up things have happened in this series that's not too high lol.

Kirito • 1 year ago

Catesby has been loyal through the end and Buckingham has truly loved Richard in the end and everybody dies

"Wait for me in Hell" when he finally decided to pray to god that is the answer he got

Jack • 1 year ago

Well, not the ending I wanted but hey they love each other to the end lol, and more important nothing happened to Anne (for now) +nothing of a pregnancy or if there was one Richard sure took it out ;-;.

I guess 1 more episode but this did feel like the finally with SO many doors open XD

Shinya • 1 year ago

For now.Correct.

Rita Frita • 1 year ago

It's funny how the show tries to get you to forget what a toxic asshole Buckingham was 99% of the time and feel bad for him. I'm sorry, it didn't work for me. I won't ever forget that their first time together was Buckingham forcing himself on Richard after he recruited someone who molested him as a child. Plus he died from his own idiocy. Good riddance.

Amyr • 1 year ago

Yeah, and this episode really made me forget how I hated their relationship. Really felt sorry for themπŸ€¦πŸΎβ€β™€οΈbut oh well...good riddance

FandomRainbow • 1 year ago

Agreed. Their entire relationship was built on Buckingham's desires and selfish nature. From the start, he exploited Richard's vulnerabilities and called it love. Like??? No?? That's called being a manipulative bastard, sweetie. So, no sympathy from my end Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―

Rita Frita • 1 year ago

The sad thing is that Richard was so starved for love that he fell for it.

they didnt clearly say it but this is what i understood..
this anime is just too sad idk what to feel anymore lol i didnt like buckingham but i kinda understand the relationship they had..its finally over it was super toxic..
now i wonder what will happen with other henry and smol edward :(

shoto • 1 year ago

The anime is rushed to the point where the conversations are brief. But yes, the medicine was for the abortion.

KonekoKoji • 1 year ago

I like the attention to detail, and the fact that the 'headsman' used an axe rather than a sword - as it was. ^_^

Vlad • 1 year ago

I'm not quite sure about this execution method. AFAIK, execution by sword was usually preserved for nobility. Axes were occasionally used on nobility, but also commoners, but neither seem to have been the norm. Some commoners were executed by placing the axe on the neck and then having an assistant hammer it into the neck. That's already pretty nasty way to go, but most of the time, commoners did not get beheaded. They either got hanged, or worse (wheeled, burnt...). Traitors often got either hung drawn and quartered, or flayed and burnt, if I remember correctly.

KonekoKoji • 1 year ago

Whilst it's true that most nobility was executed by sword, the English method of the time was an axe - and a special executioner had to be called upon for the sword. In the case (years later) of Anne Boleyn, they had to hire someone from Europe to do the job. So, since this was a pretty much 'spontaneous' execution (in that it was arranged in such a short time), they wouldn't have had a swordsman to hand, and it would have looked very strange to see a sword being used on someone who was an admitted traitor. (The axe wasn't a reliable way to go, and could occasionally take a few swings to deliver the killing blow)

Vlad • 1 year ago

I can't say that the axe is a bad tool, not that the sword is, but there's a huge difference between a nimble cut and thrust sword and an executioneers sword, or in between a war axe or a woodfelling axe... (neither of the latter are particularly suited). When you look at a Dane axe for instance, then that would be a great weapon for an execution, minus the overly long shaft. The axehead is very big and the blade tapers rapidly to the edge and becomes thin like a machete, but has a lot more heft to it...
When it comes to improvising a weapon, I think that the best candidates in Europe would be Kriegsmesser (looks like Tatchi, or oversized Katana, with a crossguard, but has far more distal taper) and Falchion (the precursor to cutlass, machete and saber). In Asia, I'd immedieatly think of something similar to a Dao, perhaps even the Pakua Miadao (a giant version of it). Ironically, I wouldn't put the Katana that high up on the list, though it is a very beginner friendly sword, has a generous grip, and can cut really well. However, the blade is too beefy. It originates from swords that had to make do with poorer steel while facing armour that could bend or shatter thinner blades.
PS: I did test cuts with a type XVIII sword, a Katana, a Kukri and an early European crucifix dagger. The Kukri hits the hardest, followed by the Katana, but interestingly, soft targets are best cut with the dagger and it can cut through a LOT of layers, such as a carpet. This goes to show that the crosssection of blades matters a lot. On the other side, the sword has a similar crossection as the dagger, but is far more flexible due to its length, which makes it harder to cut well. Katana and Kukri tend to get stuck like an axe.

KonekoKoji • 1 year ago

Yeah, depending on the axe, you probably could get an easy kill - but they def. didn't use anything with massive heft - aside from the fact that executions were for criminals and not done for their comfort, the identity of the execution changed depending on availability and location - so you could get a really skilled headsman in one location, or be really unlucky just a few miles down the road and get an awful one!

Glinda • 1 year ago

F*ck, I have no more strength! I just no longer care what's going to happen, everything is just terribly cruel and a piece of sh*t! πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ˜’β˜ΉοΈ ...
So first of all I liked how Richard prevented from his "son" the suffering that Richard suffered as a child, and I loved the way he explained it to him.
But when Richard understood how his father felt, it was awful to me. But of course the worst part was the part with Buckingham. I was so hoping he would accept Richard's offer and run away, and then they could meet again in the future, but he did not and he decide to turn himself in and be executed ...
I wanted Richard to go to Buckingham even though it was hard for him but it did not happen ... and yet at least in the end they saw each other in a very painful situation, πŸ™, and once again Richard is in very intense pain, of his beloved who died in his hands πŸ˜’πŸ˜πŸ’” πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ˜πŸ˜
I'm not interested in anything anymore and even something really sweet will not help me at the moment β˜ΉοΈπŸ˜’πŸ’”

Amano erika. • 1 year ago

Richard has finally learnt the sobering truth: with the Earl of Richmond's help, young Prince Edward of Lancaster is gonna be the next King, with the Duke of Birmingham (Henry) being his kingmaker. And that is warrant enough for yet another impending War of the Roses.

Richard is cornered at every section, and so is his son Edward of York who feels the spite that his father has been betrayed to this very point. And leaving him in his wife Anne's care is probably for the best should he wants to resolve all grievances alone, his body and soul tainted by the one whom he trusts and desires to eventually backstab at him. To Richard and Henry, love triumphs all fear and mongering, but deep within Henry, Richard's offerings are all but naught.

Richard should've realized that Buckingham is no exception to the treason rule, and he's already been labelled a traitor by delving into sexual sin with him to get what he wants for the benefit of Richard, a twisted mindset. And all Richard needs now is the witch Jane Shone to help drown his worries away while Buckingham will be on the chopping block of execution.

Such a sad fate for a demon to be entranced by another demon, and the Duke of Buckingham Henry Tyrrell...died at the hands of the one he loved.
